Coronavirus and your Practice

As you are aware we have to practice strict Social Distancing practices within the surgery. Therefore the majority of our appointments will be carried out via telephone/video consultations, the clinician will ring you to discuss your problems and, if necessary, they will arrange a video call whereby a link will be sent to your smartphone by the GP so they can look at things such as rashes etc. If a face to face appointment is required the GP will book this and you will be asked to come to the surgery at a given time – do not come earlier as you will not be able to access the waiting room. Please ensure your phone is kept with you and you are available to take the call when the GP/Nurse rings.

As a Practice we are doing the best we can to keep our patients and staff safe during these very trying times. We would request that should you require repeat prescriptions you either drop the request into the box by the front door or ring your allocated pharmacy to request your medication. If you are isolating you can ring the surgery after 10am and before 5pm to request medication during the pandemic, however I would stress that the phone lines are very busy and so you may have to wait or call back.

If you require a routine telephone appointment these can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance, however we do offer some ‘on the day’ appointments but these are for emergencies only; you will need to ring in from 8am to book an emergency telephone call with the GP. Our Practice Nurse is still carrying out Annual Reviews for Asthma, Diabetes and COPD but these will also be done by phone, again please ring the surgery to book an appointment. If your smear is due or overdue then we would urge that you phone the surgery to book in for a test as soon as possible. Child and baby immunisation’s are going ahead as normal. I would stress that if you are coming in for a face to face appointment our clinical staff will be wearing full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and full Infection Control Protocols are in place as normal.

We hope you are all keeping well and remember we are here if you need us. Our telephone number has now changed and the new number is: 01706 671180, the old number will still be available for a short time afterwards and any calls to the old number will be re-directed initially, there will also be a message confirming the new number.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any help or advice.
