MEASLES

Protect Your Family from Measles

Measles is a highly infectious disease that spreads quickly, especially among unvaccinated people. It can be very serious and lead to complications including pneumonia, ear infections, and – in rare cases – death.

Symptoms of Measles:

  • High fever
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Sore, red, watery eyes
  • Blotchy rash (brown/red on white skin; harder to see on brown/black skin)
  • Small white spots in the mouth

If you or your child may have measles, stay at home and call your GP or NHS 111. Avoid visiting the surgery or A&E to prevent the spread.

The MMR Vaccine – Your Best Protection

The MMR vaccine protects against Measles, Mumps and Rubella. It is safe, effective and provides lifelong protection after two doses.

When are the doses given?

  • 1st dose at 12 months
  • 2nd dose at 3 years 4 months
  • From January 2026: Children born on or after 1 July 2024 will receive their 2nd dose at 18 months.

Missed a dose? It’s never too late to catch up. Contact us to book your appointment.
